Sparterie (Also known as Esparterie, Spartre or Espartre) is a rare Japanese-made blocking fabric which contains paper and muslin constituents.

Originally, it was made from willow but this practice has long since ceased in today's times. Sparterie can be used to block hat bases, hat shapes, and can also be used in the theatre industry for costumes and millinery.

It is considered to be easier than buckram to use and is also capable of producing a better finish.
